Candace Sullivan’s frustration with gridlocked government and toxic red/blue tribalism led her to write Secrets. The story draws upon her decades as a Washington insider and successes in influencing public policy. Candace is a graduate of Scripps College. She has been a knowledgeable observer of international relations from her years at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC and European Center in Bologna, Italy. Candace is among the few to have sued the federal government and won. In 2005, she moved back home to Seattle with her late husband Jule Sugarman, best known for launching Head Start. Jule was a legend among public-policy administrators and a hero to children’s advocates. Secrets is a contemporary version of his unfinished novel.
